3DO
The first next generation console was available: the 3DO. But the 3DO company weren't satisfied just with producing another video game - the 3DO was designed to be an all-in-one multimedia machine at home. There was a similarity to the MSX standard: the 3DO company gave only licenses to other companies. The concept was interesting but only Panasonic and Goldstar manufactured 3DO consoles. The main drawback was the price. It was cheap as a multimedia machine but people considered the 3DO as a game machine. Main software supporters of the hardware were Electronic Arts and Crystal Dynamics.
